Four hundred and eighty nine health workers filed a case in the Civil Court against Civil Service Commission (CSC), Finance Ministry, and Health Ministry for the lack of promotions awarded to health workers.

As the right to equal employment growth has been violated, all the civil service health workers from 14 atolls have participated in this protest, which is lead by Lead by Health Professional's Unions.

Public Interest Law Center (PILC) is representation these health workers in court.

According to PILC, due to a lack of a proper framework, civil service health workers have been unable to get promoted since 2008.

As equal employment growth is a right guaranteed for all Maldivians under Article 37 of the constitution, the health workers have requested the civil court to issue an order to three parties the case is against, demanding a framework be formulated that would enable health workers to get promotions.
