Detention extended for the Brazilian woman arrested in Maldives

The detention of the Brazilian woman caught importing 16 kilo grams of cocaine has been extended by 15 days.

The 29 year old woman was arrested in Velana International Airport (VIA) on August 18. Her luggage was searched after she exhibited suspicious behaviour.

This was the second time a Brazilian woman was caught attempting to enter Maldives with large amounts of drugs on them.

The Police said the Criminal Court extended her detention till September 13.

Customs had previously confirmed that he had brought in 16.72 kilograms of cocaine and that it was worth around Rf. 83 million.

Another Brazilian woman had attempt to enter Maldives with drugs worth Rf. 15 million.
