State expenditure hit MVR10.1bil, deficit stretches to MVR2.2bil

The most recent update from Ministry of Finance reveals the cumulative total of state expenditure has reached MVR10,130.4 million.

On the other hand, the cumulative total of state revenues inclusive of foreign grants has reached MVR7,926.4 million.

The expenditure composition reveals that 73 percent of the state budget has been spent on recurrent needs while 27 percent has been focused on capital expenses.

Meanwhile, state has earned 70 percent of its total revenue from tax revenues and the remaining 30 percent came through non tax revenues.

Due to the relatively high expenditure against revenues earned, the overall balance for the review date of 14th April 2022 was recorded at MVR2,204.1 million.

Furthermore, the cumulative total of tax revenues as of 14th April 2022 has reached MVR5,547.3 million while the cumulative total of non tax revenues by the review period has reached MVR2,418.6 million.

Moreover, the cumulative total of recurrent expenditure by the review period stood at MVR7,445.8 million while the cumulative total of capital expenditure reached MVR2,684.7 million.
