The General Manager of State Electric Company (STELCO) Hussain Fahmy has been appointed as the utility provider's new Managing Director.
Fahmy, a resident of Addu City Hithadhoo first joined STELCO in 1998 as an Account Assistant Trainee. Following this, Fahmy pursued his higher education from the UK and rejoined STELCO's accounting department.
Fahmy, with a career at STELCO spanning 25 years, said that his appointment as the new MD was informed by the Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB).
Ahmed Shareef was the most recent front man of the company appointed during the previous government led by former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has been forwarding nominees to PCB, to takeover as the new Managing Directors of state-owned enterprises (SOEs), after his official inauguration.
