Rising star, Fasooha Ahmed has renewed her record for the 5th time today, on her birthday. Competing in the Grand Prix 3 held in India today after clocking a time of 2 minute and 14.53 seconds.
The rising middle distance runner, Fasooha Ahmed has renewed the 800m record for the first time this year.
Fasooha, who won the Best Female Athlete award at the Grand Prix last year and celebrates her 21st birthday today had set this new record while competing at the Grand Prix 3 held in the Kanteerva Stadium in Bangalore, India.
The runner broke this record during the 800m race at today's tournament after clocking a time of 2 minute and 14.53 seconds, finishing in 4th place. The most recent record prior to this was also made by Fasooha herself during the Grand Prix last year with a time of 2 minute 19.73 seconds.
She first made a record in the women's 800 meter sprint at the National Trials held in May last year after breaking a 13 year record, clocking a time of 27.92 seconds.
Following this, Fasooha had carried on to renew this record over three more times last year, surpassing her own time for the first time during the Time Trials held in July last year after completing the race in 2 minutes and 21.83 seconds. With this accomplishment, she secured a slot within the national team selected for the Indian Ocean Island Games last year, marking her first instance of competing in the national team.
Competing in the Asian Games held in China on October following the Indian Ocean Island Games, Fasooha had clocked a time of 2 minutes and 20.66 seconds, renewing her record in 800m sprint for the third time. She concluded the year at the Grand Prix after claiming the title of Best Female Athlete with another new record.
Fasooha had also secured another Best Female Athlete title at the 11th Athletic Association Championship held in May this year as well.
