Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Ali said on Thursday night that school principals should be the ones leading the charge to find solutions to problems.

Speaking at the ceremony held to conclude the principal training program and hand over the responsibilities to them, the minister noted that this was a challenging task. However, if the responsibility is carried out properly, Minister Aishath Ali who had previously held key positions in the education sector, said that it is also a very fulfilling job.

She said principals should be people that teachers, other school staff, parents, and students can easily meet to discuss ways to improve schools.

"Principals should be people who communicate with all stakeholders in a fair and equitable manner instead of being biased," the minister said.

The minister, who had earlier held a senior position at the Maldives National University (MNU), said good administrators lead by example.

A total of 17 participants completed the program in the first round of the principal training program. Vice President Faisal Naseem handed over the letter of completion of the program to the principals.
