Three storey mosque to be opened near Hiyaa Towers

Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has said that the three storey mosque being built in Hulhumale' Phase 2 near the Hiyaa Towers will be opened next month.

The mosque is being constructed by a private party.

The minister added that some additional mosques in Hulhumale' Phase 2 will also be completed within the year.

He said that the ministry's aim is to open permanent mosques and cease the use of temporary mosques before the end of the year.

It has been a long standing concern that there are not enough mosques near the Hiyaa Towers to accommodate the thousands of people living in the flats. The public have also raised concerns about the delays in completing the mosques being built in the area.
