Ooredoo Maldives held its first community iftar for this year’s Ramadan on Friday at King Salman Mosque.

The community iftar program is part of Ooredoo’s "Hadhiyaa" (meaning "gift" in Dhivehi) campaign, which is open to the public, especially the expatriate community. The telecommunication provider has said it will be hosting a community iftar every Friday during the Islamic holy month.

Le Souq Restaurant provided catering for the first iftar organized by Ooredoo, held in collaboration with the Ministry of Islamic Affairs. The iftar welcomed more than 200 people who joined to break their fast together.

For this Ramadan, under their theme ‘Gift’, Ooredoo has facilitated donations that can be easily made through its m-Faisaa applications. The donations made will help the expatriate community receive food and necessities, Ooredoo added.

Ooredoo Maldives launched the campaign to rekindle the spirit of unity and togetherness among the community, extend support to each other socially and spiritually, and encourage giving to charity. The telecommunications provider is hopeful that their efforts will boost similar initiatives.

The campaign is run with the support of the Mission for Migrant Workers Maldives (MMWM).
