Elections Commission seeks temporary staff for Presidential Election 2023

The Elections Commission of Maldives (EC) has announced recruitment of temporary employees for next year's presidential election.

The commission announced the recruitment of 11 employees for various activities of the presidential election.

The announcement detailed the salary of new recruits. Hired staff will receive MVR 4,465 as basic salary, MVR 1,500 as service allowance and a daily allowance of MVR 155.

The EC announced the recruitment of employees on contractual basis until the end of the presidential election of 2023. They are required to work both official and non-official hours and will be paid for overtime.

The main requirements for the jobs are:

- Grade of "D" in at least two subjects in a secondary school examination and grade of "C" in Dhivehi in a secondary school or higher secondary school certificate examination.

- One year experience in an officer level position or above.

- Experience in a GS 3 rank position in a previous election.

Preference will be given to those who have previously worked in the Elections Commission. Applicant should not be a leader of a political party.

The Elections Commission had earlier said it would announce a date for the presidential election before the end of this month.

The State Budget for 2023 has allocated MVR 90 million for the presidential election. However, according to the Elections Commission an additional MVR 30 million would be required if a second ballot is to be held.
