The Normalization Committee, with the assistance of the FIFA, has begun to draft a roadmap on managing the debts accumulated by the Football Association of Maldives (FAM).
"It is not just the debt issue. Work is also being done to draw up a roadmap to normalize the entire institution," an official told Mihaaru News.
The Civil Court has ordered the FAM to settle payments owed to various parties in a number of separate cases. In the recent press conference held by the Normalization Committee, Chairman Ahmed Zuhoor revealed that the total debt of the association stands at over MVR 85 million.
With the FAM premises being dilapidated beyond use, the committee is working out of a temporary office at the National Football Stadium.
FIFA has sent a delegation to Maldives to assist the Normalization Committee to improve the situation of the association which was mired in debt and mismanagement of funds.
The delegation, which includes financial experts and auditors, have held meetings with various relevant offices.
One of the main responsibilities given to the Normalization Committee by FIFA is recovering lost funds and solving the debt issues faced by the association.
