Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has has begun charging MVR 5 for the RTL bus service in Vilimalé from today.
In a statement, the company said that customers will be able to make payments through the RTL mobile app and website, as well as through QR tickets and bus cards to obtain the service.
Customers who wish to pay for paper tickets will be able to get them in the bus. However, tickets for the bus service will not be available at the terminals, the statement said.
However, those who wish to buy a paper ticket, will have to pay the exact price as the bus will not be able to give change in return.
MTCC said the purchase of paper tickets were made available for the convenience of customers. The company said exact fees for tickets will be taken to save time and avoid disruption to the bus schedule.
The bus service is free for people over the age of 65 and children under the age of three upon presentation of their identity cards. People with disabilities can also get the service free of charge on presentation of their National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) Disability Identification card.
