Ooredoo Maldives is bringing better data solutions to Prepaid customers with its new 'Aacha' packages, offering one-time recharges that can last up to a year.

Whereas the telecom giant previously offered only daily, weekly and monthly data packs for Prepaid users, customers that subscribe to 'Aacha' can now opt to recharge for three, six or twelve months:

MVR 750 - 3 months

This package offers 2.5 GB of data, unlimited calls to Ooredoo numbers, 25 minutes of free calls to other network numbers and 50 free local SMS, per month.

MVR 1,500 - 6 months

This package offers 3 GB of data, unlimited calls to Ooredoo numbers, 50 minutes of free calls to other network numbers and 100 free local SMS, per month.

MVR 3,000 - 12 months

Customers will receive 3.5 GB of data, unlimited calls to Ooredoo numbers, 100 minutes of free calls to other network numbers and 200 free local SMS, per month.

Ooredoo Prepaid users can activate the Aacha plans through either the Ooredoo App or SMS. For the latter, customers can text the keywords "3", "6" or "12" to 5555.

Moreover, Ooredoo also offers the 'Aachaa Daily 1 GB' plan, which renews the data package on a daily basis. The monthly plan costs MVR 500 with 30GB for 20 days, while the weekly package offers 7GB across 7 days for MVR 150.

To activate the Daily 1GB plan via SMS, customers can text "USD150" for the weekly pack, or "UD500" for the monthly pack to 5555. Alternatively, users can also activate the plan by dialling *929*1#

New Ooredoo customers can activate 'Aacha' after purchasing a standard Prepaid plan at an Ooredoo shop.

Ooredoo declared that the 'Aacha Prepaid' packages fall under the its response to customer requests for cheaper and longer lasting internet connection amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Noting the higher demand for digital connection between loved ones due to social distancing precautions, as well as greater dependency on remote working and online education, Ooredoo's Acting Chief Commercial Officer Hussain Niyaz stated that the Aacha packages would knock off between 30-40 percent of data costs for Prepaid customers.

Noting that Ooredoo earlier launched 'Eku' for Postpaid users, Niyaz went on to declare that with 'Aacha', the company has now successfully extended easier plans for all of its customers.

"We are always working to bring various innovative products to customers, and provide easy, beneficial and high quality services", he said.

Ooredoo added that it was working to bring more services and products to customers, through 'Aacha' and 'Eku'.
