Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has decided to appoint Mohamed Faisal as Chief Judge of the High Court.

The decision was reached during JSC's meeting last night.

The position of Chief Judge at High Court became vacant when former High Court Chief Judge Hussain Shaheed was appointed as a Supreme Court Judge last month. Since then, Faisal has served as the interim Chief Judge of High Court.

Faisal has 12 years experience working in the judicial sector. He holds a First Degree in Shariah and Law from the College of Islamic Studies. He has previously worked as a lawyer at SMNS Equity Chamber.

Faisal, who has served as JSC's Vice President, was appointed as a High Court Judge in 2018.
