Speaker of Parliament Abdul Raheem Abdulla has responded to former President Abdulla Yameen and former Commissioner of Police Hussain Waheed, stating that the two would be most familiar with matters related to the pen drive.

During a meeting held last night by People's National Front (PNF), the political party led by Yameen, Hussain Waheed had raised several allegations concerning the arrest of former State Minister at Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy, Fathimath Shamnaz Ali Saleem. Yameen had also asked questions to Waheed as a participant of the meeting.

"So could it perhaps be that with Shamnaz having worked so closely [with them] back then, a chance to raid her house was created because she might have a pen drive containing proof of corruption from that time?" questioned Yameen, implying President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's tenure as the Mayor of Malé City.

In a tweet on social media platform X, Abdul Raheem, who is also the Chairman of the ruling party, People's National Congress (PNC), stated that victims of "the pen drive" are still around. He said that the person who asked about it and the person who answered it would be most familiar with matters concerning the pen drive, although he did not specify any names in his post.

During the administration of former President Yameen, heavy allegations were raised against the current North Maafannu MP, Mohamed Nazim, who was the Minister of Defence at the time. It was claimed that a pen drive and a pistol were found in his apartment. Nazim was stripped of his position following the case.

In addition, several allegations were raised against politicians in connection with the information allegedly found on the pen drive during Hussain Waheed's tenure as the Commissioner of Police.
