Sun Siyam Media Group has announced that it will make arrangements for DhiraaguTV customers to easily transition to their new cable TV service.

SS Network Pvt Ltd, which has recently received Rebroadcasting License, said in a statement that the opportunity to apply for its cable services will be opened soon and Dhiraagu customers who apply for the service will be able to switch to SS Net services easily.

Dhiraagu decided to suspend their DhiraaguTV and DhiraaguPlay services from January 29 after amendments brought to Rebroadcasting Regulation (R-1/2022) by the Maldives Broadcasting Commission (Broadcom). The amendments introduced a provision prohibiting companies with foreign shareholders from providing rebroadcasting services in the Maldives.

Dhiraagu, which has 52 percent of the company’s stake owned by Bahrain’s Batelco, was refuted rebroadcasting license by Broadcom, citing that the company was not eligible for license renewal.

However, Dhiraagu came to an agreement with SS Network, to provide their IPTV and OTT as a service.

SS Network said in a statement that it is preparing to offer cable TV services across the country. The company said it will offer a mix of popular and brand new channels.

According to SS Network, prices for the company's cable TV service will soon be announced which will be more affordable compared to general market prices for cable TV services in Maldives.
