Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO), the representative of the Maldives at the South Asia Travel and Tourism Exchange (SATTE) in neighbouring India, has appointed local aviation giant Mega Maldives as the fair’s airline partner.
MATATO and Mega Maldives signed the agreement on Monday. The fair will be held in Indian capital New Delhi from February 15 to 17.
According to MATATO, Mega Maldives will be offered a stall at the exhibition under the airline partner agreement. The airline also offers economic fares to India for local firms that are participating in SATTE and for visitors.
The association disclosed that ten companies in addition to Mega have come forward to promote the Maldives’ tourism sector at this year’s exhibition. Those interested in taking part can register until January 30.
Over 750 participants from 28 states of India and 35 countries had participated in SATTE last year, which received over 20,000 visitors according to MATATO. International participants included the tourism boards of countries such as the United States, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Mexico, Malaysia, Spain, Japan, Bhutan, Cambodia, United Arab Emirates, Sri Lanka and Russia.
