Gedhoruveriyaa portal received, but inaccessible: Housing Ministry

The Ministry of Housing, Land, and Urban Development announced today that the Gedhoruveriyaa portal, which includes information about applicants for flats under the previous government's housing scheme, was transferred last week after being withheld for investigation by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) but still remains inaccessible.

The permanent list of 4,000 flat beneficiaries under the Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) was made public two days prior to the end of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's tenure. Following the raising of multiple complaints, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) suspended the issuance of flats on that same day.

During the investigation, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) restricted access to the portal exclusively to the commission, resulting in the Housing Ministry being unable to access it.

Following two months of investigation, the ACC found that 60 percent of the 4000 listed recipients had not met the eligibility criteria. The recipients devoid of any faults were at 20.7 percent while 19.7 percent of the applications had misinformation in their forms despite passing the criteria, which amounts to 824 people.

The Housing Ministry has faced delays in finalizing decisions regarding the flats, due to the ongoing investigation by the ACC.

Last week, Minister of Housing, Land, and Urban Development Ali Haider announced that an independent committee would be established to allocate flats to individuals without any issues.

Despite the ACC apparently returning access details to the portal to the Housing Ministry a week ago, the Ministry has not been able to gain access to the portal as of yet.

It has been revealed that ACC had not provided details of the logins accessing the portal. Hence, the Housing Ministry will have to generate new logins to access the portal. Currently, the Ministry is in the process of creating logins and undertaking other necessary technical work.

The ACC has provided access to the portal to the Housing Ministry after taking a backup of it.

State Minister for the Housing Ministry, Ibrahim Nizam, said today that administrative work is in progress, and the tasks are anticipated to conclude within the next two to three days.

A public petition has also been submitted to Parliament, calling for the swift allocation of flats to eligible beneficiaries.
