Registrations into Dhiraagu Road Race to close on September 10

Local telecom provider, Dhiraagu has declared that the registration window into the largest local marathon held by the company, Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race (DMRR) will close on the tenth of this month.

Local telecom provider, Dhiraagu has declared that the registration window into the largest local marathon held by the company, Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race (DMRR) will close on the tenth of this month.

The company said that interested individuals can sign up for the event through the official website for the marathon, said the company.. Proceeds of the event alongside each MVR 100 raised from the registration fee will be donated to institutions that join the run.

Dedicated to protection of children's rights, the run this year will, for the first time, include a new 5K Team Event category specifically for Office/Resort teams. This newly introduced category allows teams of four to represent their organizations.

Winners in the Office/Resorts category will be determined based on the total time tallied by each team member. Each participant is given the standard 5K Team Event timeframe of 45 minutes to complete the race.

The run this year will also feature the half marathon introduced in 2023, which will award three female and male winners respectively. A prize pool of MVR 25,000 has been proposed for the victor of the half marathon category with MVR 15,000 offered for second place and MVR 10,000 for third.

Meanwhile, the 10k and 5k Open categories of the run presents the winner with a prize of MVR 10,000. The runner-up is offered MVR 8,000 while the third place winner is awarded a total of MVR 6,000. School centric categories; Under 13 and Over 13 offers a prize of MVR 5,000 for the winner while the second place is presented MVR 3,000 and the third, MVR 1,000. A prize pool of MVR 10,000 has been allocated for the champions of the Office/Resorts category, while the runner-up team will receive MVR 8,000. The third-place team will be awarded a prize of MVR 6,000.

The marathon this year marks the 15th edition of the DMRR, with the first held in 2007.
