Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) announced today that it will begin charging rent from its flat recipients starting this coming October.

In a notice sent to the flat recipients from the company's Human Resources (HR) department today, it was detailed that MPL's Board has decided to implement rent charges for residents starting October.

A total of 534 apartments were offered for the company's staff, comprising 204 single room apartments and 330 three room apartments.

Last February, MPL's CEO Mohamed Wajeeh Ibrahim stated that charging rent from the apartments would begin once everyone is moved into the residence. Since then, people have moved into the apartments.

MPL previously also facilitated ease in paying down payments and rent for its residents.
