Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed has been summoned to the Police Board to clarify the details of an investigation conducted by the police. However, details of the case is not clear.
This is the first time the CP has been summoned to the police board, appointed under the new Police Act, which came into effect in December 2020. The Commissioner of Police will be summoned to the Police Board at 2:00 pm tomorrow.
According to the new Police Act, the police board is in charge of maintenance and supervision of the police force. According to the Police Act, the Police Board is composed of two members appointed by the President, three members with education and experience in the technical field, and two members from the general public. The term of office of each police board is four years.
According to the law, the Commissioner of Police must be held accountable to the board for police affairs.
