Haa Alif Hoarafushi Airport, operated by Regional Airports Company Private Limited (RACL), has recently introduced night flights to the airport.
Regional Airports Managing Director Mohamed Rizvi officiated the formal inauguration of night flights at Hoarafushi Airport.
Speaking at a special ceremony held on the island to mark the launch of night flights, President of the Island Council Mohamed Waheed said that the introduction of night flights would effectively address the challenges faced by the residents. He highlighted that issues like the need to delay emergency travel until morning for medical purposes would now be resolved.
During the ceremony, Regional Airports Managing Director Rizvi highlighted the economic advantages brought about by the initiation of night flights.
"Along with the addition of night flights, the number of tourists visiting will increase as well," said Rizvy.
He also said that RACL is actively working to expand and enhance their services.
During the ceremony, it was also highlighted that the introduction of night flights would create multiple job opportunities for locals.
With the implementation of night flights, the airport's operations will now be operational 24 hours a day.
RACL is currently in the process of introducing night flights to Maavarulu Airport as well.
Apart from Hoarafushi Airport, RACL currently offers night flights at Hanimadhoo International Airport, Kulhudhuffushi Airport, Faresmaathodaa Airport, and Fuvahmulah Airport.
