Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), on Monday, recommenced the e-learning platform, with Russian based company ProFi + Travel, for tour operators in Russia and countries belonging to the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

The platform, which aims to encourage tour operations in Russia and CIS countries to increase bookings to Maldives, was initially launched in February and halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to MMPRC, the platform is tailored to provide details on various aspects of the island nation as well as assist over 2000 tour operators in choosing the best travel option for their customers.

"The E-learning platform will provide information about the Maldives tourism products, showcase tourist attractions, historical sites, culture and more for the tour operators. At the end of the course, participants who successfully prove their knowledge will be awarded a certificate", MMPRC stated.

In addition, MMPRC revealed that they will also be part of the loyalty programme in which the tour operators with the highest number of bookings will be awarded holidays sponsored by Furaveri Maldives, Paradise Island Resort and Grand Park Kodhipparu.

Profi + Travel has over 20 years of experience in conducting similar B2B campaigns. The Russian based company creates unique content that helps travel companies to increase their sales, provide expert analysis of the market trends and organize online fairs and workshops with educational training on different destinations.

MMPRC noted that Russia has been a traditionally strong market for the Maldives. The year 2020 began with the market ranking as the fourth-highest arrival market to the Maldives, with an increase of arrivals by 29.6 percent compared to January of 2019.

Russia is currently ranked among the top 10 countries in terms of arrivals amidst the pandemic and is expected to increase the arrivals with the recent resumption of flights from Russia to Maldives.
