Submissions by Maldivian poets for our poetry segment
“Dream a dream," my mother would say,
“that brings the stars to your fingertips
“and sends dragons and demons away;
“that puts smiles on children’s lips
“and ignites your hope and dormant faith.”
“But that is hopeless," I would answer,
“for where can such dreams be found?”
And with a smile, she would whisper,
“Open your mind and let go your doubt,”
as she presses a storybook to my heart.
