Remand for State Minister at Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy Fathimath Shamnaz Ali Saleem and her sister Hawwa Sana Saleem has been extended by another seven days.
Remand has been extended for State Minister at the Ministry of Climate Change, Environment, and Energy Fathimath Shamnaz Ali Saleem, and her sister, Hawwa Sana Saleem, who were arrested on charges of sorcery.
A police media official stated that Shamnaz and Sana were brought before the court, and their remand had been extended by seven days.
The two were arrested on June 23 and initially remanded in custody for seven days. A third person, Hussain Sameer, a resident of Haa Dhaalu atoll Vaikaradhoo, was also arrested but has since been released after a court decision.
Shamnaz is the ex-wife of President's Office Minister Adam Rameez. They share children and have recently divorced.
Reports indicate that Rameez has not been accused or investigated in this case. However, both Rameez and Shamnaz were suspended from their posts on Thursday.
