IGMH implements special measures due to increase in Hajj flu

IGMH has implemented measures to ensure the safety of patients and hospital staff in light of the increase in spread of flu like symptoms among hajj pilgrims.

Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has implemented special measures due to the increase in the spread the of flu among Hajj pilgrims.

IGMH opened a Hajj flu clinic for pilgrims this year as well. The hospital on Saturday, said that they observed an increase in flu-like symptoms among those visiting the clinic for consultations.

To ensure the safety of patients and staff, IGMH has taken the following measures:

- The public is advised not to visit the hospital unless necessary

- All visitors to the hospital to wear masks

- Avoid crowding in the hospital

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has also advised pilgrims to take precautions after returning from Hajj. The agency posted on social media detailing the precautions to take if patients have contracted flu and viral fever, and the treatments they can take at home if symptoms appear.

Local football legend Mohamed Arif (Baka) passed away from meningococcal disease following his return from the Hajj pilgrimage. Authorities have urged the public to exercise caution following the discovery of the disease in the Maldives.
