Ministry of Higher Education announced the opportunity for pilots to take courses abroad, using the student loans issued for courses at the flight school in Addu.
In a statement issued regarding the issue of students from the Asian Academy of Aeronautics (AAA) being unable to finish their courses, the ministry declared that they would allow pilots to utilize the currently available loans to study abroad, adding assurances that the problems faced in continuing their studies were unrelated to the students themselves.
“We have now provided the chance for students to do their flight courses abroad using the loan. If additional funding is required for the completion of their course, however, they must acquire it themselves”, the statement asserted.
The ministry insisted on students being diligent in their choice of school, stating that attending a respectable, widely accredited institution is of the utmost importance.
Should students currently studying in Maldives wish to continue their course elsewhere, they are required to submit a placement letter from their school of choice, documents detailing the fee structure and a copy of their ID to [email protected]. The ministry urged students to ensure that the school allows for admission without additional testing by Civil Aviation.
A total of 96 students are studying at the flight school in Addu after extracting multiple loans. Some students are funding their courses on their own. The ministry is yet to find a solution for these issues.
