State Trading Organisation (STO) Pharmacy on Thursday launched an online portal for patients requiring prescribed drugs.
The state-run company had been delivering pharmaceutical drugs to households when patients send their prescriptions through the Viber application, since the Greater Male' area was placed under lockdown on April 15.
However, with the introduction of the online portal, customers will now have to submit their prescriptions to: sto.mv/online/prescriptions
Spokesperson for STO, Abdulla Mohamed stated that the company had arranged their delivery service through Viber as a temporary fix to ensure that people continued to receive their prescription drugs until a more a permanent solution was found.
According to Abdulla, the portal will be a convenient way to issue prescription for deliveries.
"Sometimes, we are unable to reply to every prescription request because each submission has to be answered manually", he explained.
"But via this portal, customers will receive an immediate response upon submission. Customers can track updates regarding their prescriptions as well".
All prescriptions submitted through the portal must be issued less than three months ago, and customers must provide the original prescription along with a copy of their national ID card upon delivery.
STO reassured that all deliveries will be completed within a week after its submission.
Additional information regarding STO pharmacy's delivery is available at the newly launched portal.
