Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has cleared a total of 2,966 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) or containers between November 3-16.
Additionally, the port authority reports clearing 7,641 TEUs in October 2023 as well.
Between November 3-9, MPL cleared 1616 TEUs which included 746 of 20-footers, and 435 units of 40 feet containers. Between the same duration, MPL handled 06 container vessels, 07 general/perishable cargo vessels, and 16,034 packages.
Additionally, MPL loaded and unloaded 1,263 TEUs and shifted another 2,483 TEUs. The most imported items in the period were;
- Eggs: 12,866 packages
- Onion: 10,276 packages
- Watermelon: 7,597 packages
- Potato: 4,885 packages
- Tomato: 3,785 packages
On the other hand, MPL cleared 1,350 TEUs between November 10-16, which included 558 units of 20 feet containers, and 396 units of 40 feet containers. The authority handled 04 container vessels, 04 general/perishable cargo vessels, and 15,338 packages during this period.
The most imported commodities during this period include;
- Eggs: 14,054 packages
- Onion: 9,871 packages
- Potato: 5,201 packages
- Watermelon: 5,131 packages
- Tomato: 2,898 packages
In October 2023, MPL cleared 5,465 containers which is equivalent to 7,641 TEUs. The sum total of containers cleared during the previous month included 3,289 units of 20 feet containers and 2,176 units of 40 feet containers.

- Onion: 46,884 packages | +54 percent
- Watermelon: 28,460 packages | +18 percent
- Potato: 24,786 packages | +30 percent
