Four additional stations will provide fuel to fishermen at STO rates starting tomorrow, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu said today.

These stations are located in Lhaviyani Felivaru, Gaafu Alifu Kooddoo, Kaafu Himmafushi, and Addu City, Hulhumeedhoo.

From tomorrow, fishermen will be able to purchase fuel at STO rates at Fuel Supply Maldives (FSM) stations in these areas, President Muizzu said.

He also highlighted plans to implement fuel stations in other key regions, to ensure easier access to affordable fuel for fishermen.

“By the end of 2025, fuel will be available across the country at STO rates as per our pledge. We are trying to listen to the voice of the fishermen and deliver what they want,” he said.

President Muizzu added that fishermen traveling from Huvadhoo atoll to Male' will soon be able to refuel mid-journey at a station in [M. Atoll].

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu announced today that the mechanism for disbursing payments owed to fishermen within 48 hours will be implemented from tomorrow, fulfilling a key presidential pledge.

President Muizzu said that MVR 38 million in payments have already been disbursed to fishermen by this afternoon. Of this, MVR 32.4 million was deposited into the bank accounts of 196 individuals with accounts at BML, while an additional MVR 5.6 million was deposited into 20 individuals accounts with MIB.
