Azan calls are now heard in Parliament chambers during prayer times, an unprecedented practice in parliament history.
People's Majlis has begun hearing Azan (Islamic call to prayer) during prayer times.
During yesterday's parliament session, Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla had interrupted an ongoing debate and cut off the debater's microphone at Dhuhr prayer time, after which the call of Azan resonated loudly inside the chambers.
The parliament session was resumed after the prayer call ended.
This marks the first instance in parliament history where Azan calls have been heard inside the chamber. Although TV lives were previously suspended during prayer times, parliament sessions had continued without interruption.
