Maldives Pension Administration Office (MPAO) and Maldives Sports Corporation, on Sunday, signed an agreement to celebrate Senior Citizens Day on September 18.
The agreement was signed between MPAO's CEO Mohamed Hussain Manik and Sports Corporation's Managing Director (MD) Mauroof Ahmed (Maattey).
MPAO announced that a walk titled "Three Generation Walk" is scheduled to take place in reclaimed suburb Hulhumale' on September 18 at 1600hrs to 1800 in celebration of Senior Citizens Day.
In addition to senior citizens, their families will also take part in the event.
According to Hussain Manik, the walk aimed to create awareness on the importance of good health among senior citizens and create a joyful environment for them.
Lots will be drawn amongst the participants and three individuals are set to receive MVR 2,000. One out of the many families where three generations or more participate in the walk stand a chance to win MVR 3,000, while the family containing the eldest participant of the walk will win MVR 3,000 as well.
Since the event is specially targeting senior citizens, MPAO affirmed that transportation will be arranged from Male' to Hulhumale' for those who wish to take part in the walk.
They further stated that water bottles can be refilled at the stations set up in Central Park for the duration of the event.
