MTCC has been awarded the project for MVR 144 million, with a completion deadline of 455 days.
Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been awarded the contract to lay tarmac on the unpaved section of Boduthakurufaanu Magu, stretching from the Hulhumale' ferry terminal to the local market.
A large portion of Boduthakurufaanu Magu was paved during the administration of former President Abdulla Yameen. However, the stretch from the ferry terminal to the Rasfannu area remains unpaved.
The agreement was signed today at a ceremony held to officially launch the development project. Infrastructure Minister Dr Abdullah Muththalib signed on behalf of the ministry, while MTCC Managing Director Ahmed Saudhee signed on behalf of the company.
According to the ministry, the project involves laying tarmac over 830 meters of road. The development will feature two lanes in each direction and will cover the area from the Hulhumale' ferry terminal to the local market.
To accommodate the additional lanes, part of the lagoon will be reclaimed through sheet piling.
The project scope also includes the installation of a drainage system, gates, road markings, and signboards. MTCC has been awarded the project for MVR 144 million, with a completion deadline of 455 days.
