Maldives Immigration launched the email applications for passport services, on Sunday.
According to the institution coloured scans of the passport application form, ID card copy, MVR 10 revenue stamp, most recent passport and a passport-size photo in JPEG format should be attached with the application.
Applicants should email to [email protected] with their full name, ID card number and phone number in the subject field.
However, lost or damaged passports and second generation passports with more than eight months to expire will not be accepted through the online service.
Immigration's Spokesperson Hassan Haleel, revealed that there were two methods to submit the revenue stamp;
1. Scan and E-mail the stamp.
2. Present the stamp while making the payment for the passport
Immigration Controller Mohamed Ahmed Hussein had recently revealed that the department was working on releasing new online portal service for passport application before the end of the year.
An average of 50-70 passports is released on a daily basis, compared to approximately 300 passports released during the school holiday period.
