Thimarafushi wins their first match in the Golden Futsal Challenge

Thaa atoll Thimarafushi, which had won the Golden Futsal Challenge three times, defeated Thaa atoll Kinbidhoo 2-1 in their first match of this year's tournament.

In this Group A match of Thaa atoll, Ahmed Aflaz gave Thimarafushi the lead before Kinbidhoo equalized through Ali Falah's goal. Thimarafushi won the match in the final moments through an own goal by Kinbidhoo's Ahmed Hamdhan Hussain. In the final moments, Thimarafushi's captain Ibrahim Sinah (Sina) was given two yellow cards and a red card.

Thimarafushi, who also won the Thaa atoll championship last year, has lifted the atoll trophy six times so far. Having also won the zone trophy five times, Thimarafushi is the tournament's most successful team.

Last year's Thaa atoll runners-up, Omadhoo, who are also in this group, lost 2-1 to Vilufushi. After Mohamed Nabith Hussain gave Omadhoo an early lead, Salman Sadeef equalized for Vilufushi. Zakariyya Zahoor Ismail scored the winning goal for Vilufushi in the final minute.

In Group B of this atoll, Hirilandhoo defeated Veymandoo 3-2. Hirilandhoo's goals were scored by Mohamed Shamhan, Mohamed Nishahu, and Mohamed Shan. Abdullah Lateef scored Veymandoo's first goal. The second goal was an own goal by Hirilandhoo's keeper, Ahmed Huzam.

In another match of this group, Buruni defeated Kandoodhoo 4-1. Mohamed Nahil Nooh scored twice for Buruni, while Mohamed Sham and Hussain Mamdhooh Ahmed also scored one each. Mohamed Zidhan Esa scored Kandoodhoo's only goal.

Last year's Shaviyani atoll champions, Kanditheemu, defeated Maroshi 1-0 last night. Ahmed Rizan scored Kanditheemu's only goal. Feydhoo, the most recent atoll runners-up who are also in Group A with Kanditheemu, lost 2-1 to Milandhoo. Ibrahim Zahee and Ahmed Shanee scored to give Milandhoo the lead, while Maail Mohamed scored for Feydhoo.

In Shaviyani atoll's Group B, Bileffahi secured a 2-1 victory over Goidhoo. Ali Ifradh scored the winning goal for Bileffahi. Earlier, Ibrahim Iman gave Bileffahi the lead before Mohamed Shaufan equalized for Goidhoo. In this group, Narudhoo defeated Lhaimagu 3-2 last night. Hussain Haleem scored twice and Hassan Fairooz once to give Narudhoo the lead in the first half, while Lhaimagu scored both their goals in the final 10 minutes through Abdul Kareem Ahmed.

Tonight's matches will feature teams from Faafu atoll and Alifu Alifu atoll.
