Maldivian swimmer Mohamed Aan Hussain who is currently at the Paris 2024 Olympics secured third place in the heat he competed in, and broke his own national record today.

Aan swam in the fourth heat of the 50 metre mens freestyle heat where he competed with eight swimmers.

Aan completed the race in 24.22 seconds, breaking the previous record of 24.28 seconds he made in May during the Malaysia Open Swimming Championship. His speed this time was 00.06 seconds faster.

Aan maintained his speed at second place throughout the race, up until the very last few moments, where he unfortunately slipped into third place.

However, none of the swimmers who competed in the heat were able to advance to the semi final stage. This is because they were unable to secure a spot at the top 16. By the end of all heats, Aan placed 50th among 73 swimmers.
