Higher Education Ministry has announced that scholarships has been opened for Maldivian students to study at Japanese universities within which all expenses are covered by the Japanese government.
Scholarships offering the chance to attend universities in Japan have been opened for Maldivians.
An announcement by the Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development stated that the Japanese Embassy has notified that an opportunity for Maldivian students to attend Japanese universities for their studies has been extended under the 'Japanese Government Scholarship for 2025' with all expenses covered by the Government of Japan.
The Ministry further explained that applications to select students for the scholarship will be tested and reviewed by the Japanese Embassy of Maldives with tests and interviews also conducted in the Embassy.
1. Research students: Deadline for application is May 27
2. Specialize training college students: Deadline for application is June 3
3. College of Technology students: Deadline for application is June 3

In addition to this scholarship to Japan, Maldives has also received scholarships to study in China, India and Pakistan as well. While 10 fields of specialization has been offered from the Bahria University in Islamabad, Pakistan, 200 students have been provided the chance to undertake their Masters education under a scholarship in China. India has offered 34 fully funded scholarships exclusively to Maldivians.
