A helpline dedicated to providing psychological first aid to students has been established.

First Lady Fazna Ahmed officially launched the hotline number 1484, established by the Ministry of Education in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF. The helpline aims to provide crucial mental health and psycho-social support to every student, ensuring their well-being during trying times.

The Ministry has revealed that the newly launched helpline will operate from 3 pm to 9 pm every day, excluding Fridays. The helpline will provide psychological first aid to students and is not intended for emergency situations, the Ministry said.

Counselors who have received training in the field of psychology will respond to phone calls and provide the necessary psychological assistance to students seeking support.

The Ministry's establishment of the psychological support helpline aims to strengthen counseling at school level and enhance and expand the reach of counsellors across the country.

A key objective of helpline is to identify students who may benefit from psycho-social support at the school level and ultimately reduce the number of students requiring clinical intervention.

The helpline will be available starting Sunday, June 18.
