The High Court ruled on Tuesday that there was no reason to dismiss the rulings made by the Criminal Court regarding the evidence submitted by former President Abdulla Yameen's defence in the Raa atoll Fuggiri case.

His defence had appealed against some of the rulings made by the Criminal Court regarding the bribery and money laundering charges filed against Yameen in the lease of Fuggiri island.

Some of them include not accepting former Vice President Ahmed Adheeb and Abdulla Ziyath as witnesses, in addition to requests made to recover certain documents.

Judge Dheebanaz Fahmy and Judge Mohamed Faisal concurred that there was no reason to change the decisions made by the lower court in this case.

Judge Hassan Shafeeu, however, had a differing opinion on the matter. He stated that it was the Criminal Court that had to determine again whether they would accept Adheeb and Ziyath as witnesses. However, regarding the request to recover the documents, his opinion remained the same.

The High Court had previously ruled that until his appeal was over, the Fuggiri case had to be halted. However, now that the verdict has been passed, the Criminal Court can resume the case.
