COVID-19: Maldives record 114th death

Health Protection Agency (HPA) on Thursday announced the 114th COVID-19 related fatality in Maldives.

As per the agency, a 62-year-old Maldivian male was brought to ADK Emergency and was declared dead at 1852 hrs.

This was the second death on Thursday so far. Earlier in the day, HPA revealed that a 36-year-old Nepalese man scumbered to the virus in Laamu COVID Management Facility.

The number of fatalities has been increasing with the recent surge of cases in Maldives. So far 40 people passed away in May. Prior to this, the highest number of recorded COVID-19 deaths within a single month was in February, with 10 people losing their battle to the virus.

Maldives recorded its first COVID related death on April 29, 2020.
