Ministry of Education confirms the initially planned pre-school establishment in Hulhumale' Phase II, will now be opened as a primary school.
The project contractor; SJ Construction will reportedly conclude the project prior to the school's expected official opening in September 2022.
The first educational establishment in the second phase of Hulhumale' bears the name of former Parliament Speaker and former Minister of Education Ahmed Kamil Didi.
With a September opening, the school will welcome fresh student batches a month after the new academic year commences in August 2022.
Greater Male' Region currently has only one establishment exclusively providing education to primary-grades, whereas most schools that started out as primary schools are now multi-level establishments.
Earlier, the government of Maldives contracted SJ Construction for the project in March 2022, with the contractual condition to complete the project under 165 days.
While the project value was not announced officially at the signing, Housing Development Corporation (HDC) had earlier in February 2022 claimed the reported total of the project is worth MVR 27 million.
