Local media reported that the disciplinary case against Family Court Judge Huzaifa Mohamed was submitted to Judicial Service Commission (JSC) by an assistant legal officer of the court who was under investigation for alleged sexual harassment.

The employee was dismissed from his position after the conclusion of his case.

The family court employee was accused of harassing a female staff member by sending links to inappropriate websites and groping her. Media reports say that the case, filed in 2015 was discontinued and resubmitted in February 2019.

The assistant legal officer sent text messages to Huzaifa threatening to lodge a complaint at JSC, accusing the judge of acting outside legal proceedings in his sexual harassment investigation. Huzaifa responded by submitting the case to the Department of Judicial Administration (DJA).

Judge Huzaifa is the chairman and only female member of the committee established at Family Court under the Sexual Abuse and Harassment Act.

The now sacked assistant legal officer was supposedly closely acquainted with Family Court's Chief Judge Hassan Saeed, who is currently under suspension due to an ongoing investigation regarding disciplinary issues.
