14 land plots in Hanimadhoo being leased for tourism ventures

Hanimadhoo Island Council has announced on Sunday that they will be leasing a total of fourteen land plots from the island for the purposes of carrying out tourism related ventures.

Hanimadhoo Island Council has announced on Sunday that they will be leasing a total of fourteen land plots from the island for the purposes of carrying out tourism related ventures.

The land plots are 5000 square feet each, as per their announcement. They include eight land plots from the northern side of the island and six land plots from the southern side.

The land plots will be leased for a period of 50 years.

Area in Hanimadhoo that eight of these land plots are being issued from.

Bidding is now open for persons interested in the lease of these lands for tourism related businesses, the statement reads. Those interested must register for the bidding process ahead of 30th April. Bids will be accepted with a charge of MVR 1000 for land plots of 5000 sqft. If additional areas are desired, MVR 1000 must be paid for each additional land plot.

Applicants must have businesses registered with the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade to be eligible for this bid.

Hanimadhoo Council is undertaking several efforts to broaden local tourism in the country for when the airport development efforts are completed. Airport development efforts are being conducted through the aid of India.

The government has also previously said that 8000 tourism beds are required to make the Hanimadhoo Airport feasible. They said that to achieve this, investments worth USD 2.4 billion will need to be carried out in the north.
