Police to deploy Canine Unit for New Year operations

Maldives Police Service will deploy their Canine Unit for the special operations to be undertaken during the New Year holidays.

Police stated that the Drug Enforcement Department's operations will commence Thursday, with the aim of halting illegal alcohol and substance abuse which is common at New Year's celebrations in Maldives.

The activities will be conducted across capital Male' and the suburbs of Villimale and Hulhumale, in addition to other islands near the Greater Male' region.

Police revealed that all operational departments, including the Canine Unit 'Faaragema", and Maldives Customs Service are to participate.

Maldives Police Service have made several successful drug busts and seized illegal alcohol and substances during past New Year operations.
