The government of Maldives appointed former member of Maldives Broadcasting Commission, Moomina Adam, as the new CEO of state orphanage 'Kudakudhinge Hiyaa' on Tuesday.
Moomina Adam was appointed after her successor, Abdul Shukoor Abdul Hakeem, was suspended last January over a Human Rights Commission of Maldives (HRCM) investigation against him.
Despite his suspension, Shukoor was appointed as a Deputy Minister of Gender, Family and Social Services earlier this month. Neither HRCM nor gender ministry has disclosed further information on his investigation.
The newly appointed CEO of the orphanage, Moomina Adam, is aunt to the current Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment Ahmed Mahloof.
Kudakudhinge Hiyaa is located in the suburb of Vilimale' and houses children over the age of 13. Younger children under state care is housed in the orphanage 'Fiyavathi' in Hulhumale'.
