The second edition of Migrant Worker's Cricket Carnival, organised by the Mission for Migrant Workers Maldives (MMWM) in association with Ooredoo Maldives, successfully concluded last Saturday. The carnival was held at the Ekuveni Cricket Ground in Malé.

The annual cricket carnival is held to involve migrant workers in sports, provide needed support, and gain a better understanding of their needs. A health camp and a legal awareness camp were also set up on the grounds for the expatriate workers.

The cricket tournament, in which 20 teams competed, was officiated by the Maldives Cricket Board. The "Friends Club Bangladesh" won the heated final match against the "Unity Club" from Sri Lanka. The tournament came to a close with awards given to the best batter, fielder, and bowler in the matches.

At the closing ceremony, the awards were presented by the High Commissioners designated to the Maldives from Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, as well as senior management members from Ooredoo Maldives.

WHO Maldives, the Society for Health Education (SHE), the Health Protection Agency (HPA), Medicos and Life Support provided free medical screening at the health camp set up at the carnival. Transparency Maldives, the Public Interest Law Centre (PILC), the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), and the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM) all contributed to the carnival's legal awareness camp.

MMWM expressed gratitude to all of the partners who contributed to making the carnival a success.

The even was launched to advocate for the rights of migrant workers and to include them in community empowerment efforts.
