The latest amendments to Maldives Anti-Terrorism Act have enforced divulging intelligence information sharing threshold or limit with the Maldives President.
The act demands a systematic network of intelligence information sharing among relevant authorities, and under the previous provisions, police were legally bound to divulge information exclusively with the Minister of Home Affairs.
However, the amendments to the act, brought in effect on Tuesday, 08th March, have expanded the information divulging authorities to the Maldives President apart from the Minister of Home Affairs.
The terrorism intelligence network consists of Maldives Police, the military (MNDF), Maldives Immigration, Maldives Customs Service, and Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA).
