Health Protection Agency (HPA) announced the 215th COVID-19 fatality in Maldives on Thursday.
The agency said a 60 year old Maldivian man admitted in Hulhumale’ Medical Facility (HMF) had passed away around 8 pm on Wednesday evening.
This is the fourth COVID death of the month, a significant decrease from June, which saw 50 deaths while May saw the most number of recorded COVID fatalities in Maldives, at 88 total deaths.
The surge Maldives saw in COVID cases starting from late April appear to be controlled again, which has lead to HPA to decrease the COVID alert level from red to orange earlier this week.
So far there has been 75,405 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Maldives. Fifty percent of the entire population has received two doses of COVID-19 vaccines as well.
