President Dr Mohamed Muizzu is scheduled to visit the Male' City Council offices today to meet with the council members.

The President's Office said that the President has decided to meet with the council members at 11:00 hrs today.

"This visit is akin to visits to other councils of Maldives, where the President will listen to the concerns and suggestions of council members," the President's Office said.

President Muizzu was also the previous mayor of Male' City. Both then, and now, the council's majority was held by Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and People's National Congress (PNC).

The last by-elections also saw PNC members being elected to all three vacant seats. However, the mayoral seat is held by opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) member Adam Azim.

Azim, after his win, assured that he would work in collaboration with the government for the development of Male' City.

Earlier this year, President Muizzu travelled across the country to many islands, where he met with and listened to the concerns of local councils. He has said that he will meet with all councils at least twice within this five year term.
