India’s External Affairs Minister Jaishankar arrives in Maldives

The Indian External Minister will be in Maldives for three days, during which bilateral meetings will be held.

India’s External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar has arrived in Maldives on an official visit.

He was greeted at Velana International Airport (VIA) by Maldives’ Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer.

This marks Jaishankar’s fourth official visit to the Maldives, and the first for a senior official of the Indian government to visit the island nation in an official capacity since President Dr Mohamed Muizzu assumed office.

During this visit, Jaishankar is scheduled to hold bilateral discussions with President Muizzu and Minister Zameer.

President Muizzu had also met with Jaishankar during the his recent trip to India.

During his three-day visit, Jaishankar will observe the progress of the Thilamalé Bridge, a project funded by India’s loan assistance. He will also travel to Addu to inspect the ongoing projects supported by India, including Addu’s road development and the Hankede project. Additionally, the Police College in Addu City was developed with India's assistance.

Jaishankar will depart from the Maldives directly from Addu via Gan International Airport.

During former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s administration, Jaishankar visited the Maldives three times, including visits to Addu.
