Development of three new schools in Hulhumale' set to begin this year

Minister Shafeeu said that while one school will be built in Hulhumale' phase one, another will be established in Hulhumale' phase 2. However, the location of the third school will be finalized following a pattern analysis based on population density.

Education Minister Dr Ismail Shafeeu announced that three additional schools will be built in Hulhumalé this year to accommodate the island's growing population.

In an interview with Mihaaru News on Wednesday, Minister Shafeeu said that alongside the school currently under construction by Rasheed Carpentry and Construction (RCC) Private Limited, three more schools are planned to be developed in Hulhumale' this year.

Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure, is in the process of securing the necessary funds for these developments.

Shafeeu said that one school will be built in Hulhumalé Phase 1, and another in Hulhumalé Phase 2. The location of the third school has yet to be finalized.

"A school may also need to be established in Hulhumalé Phase 3. We will conduct a pattern analysis based on population density to determine the location of the third school," Dr Shafeeu said.

Salahuddin School located in Hulhumale' Phase 2

Currently, Salahuddin School is the only school located in Hulhumalé Phase 2. Due to the increasing population and student numbers, the school, which has a capacity for 1,700 children, now accommodates 2,053 students and has been converted to two sessions with the new academic year.

Some students from Hulhumalé Phase 2 attend Huravee School in Hulhumalé Phase 1, while others who could not secure placements from Hulhumale' study in schools located in Malé.
